What is Recon Terrain?

Recon Terrain is a vast and ever-growing 6mm terrain system. With hundreds of different pieces, variety of trees and terrain, 3 different hill styles and unique buildings, you can build endless battlefields to support your casual and competitive games.

Balance

Recon Terrain was designed to be balance of Playability, Aesthetics and Costs allowing players from hobbyist and casual to competitive to enjoy the product.

Playability

Recon Terrain was designed to maximize the playability by featuring “flat” top surfaces, standard 1” increments, stackable sizes, and optimal cover. The terrain has very little growth at the base allowing miniatures to fit near the terrain without being exposed.

Aesthetics

Being functional does not have to come at cost visually. Recon Terrain was crafted to look great on the table with several distinct styles and plenty of detail for both the casual and experienced hobbyist. Each style has high detail to catch every brush stroke and places to apply flocking and other distinct details.

Cost

Careful considerations where made to create an quality product at a reasonable cost. Several options of packages allow the product to fit any budget and can be expanded anytime.

From the box to the table

Recon terrain is made with a matte finish give it a softer, more organic, feel. The details and carefully picked colors allow the terrain to look great right out of the box.

Stacking

Hill tops have surface details but still allow other hills, trees and miniatures to be set securely on top.

Each starter kit was designed to maximize potential stacking opportunities providing more options when building your battlefield.

Style & Color

Recon Terrain hills are offered in 3 distinct styles

  • Stone - heavily textured top surface and rocky sides

  • Plateau - light cracked top and rocky sides

  • Canyon - Light pitted top and sweeping textured sides

Each hill style has a “standard” color but can be ordered in any of the 5 colors (alternate colors may cause an extended lead time).

Other terrain is made with color in mind as well. Trees come in green and brown while water comes in blue.

Flexible Design

Large Hills are split into 2 parts and have holes available for magnets.

  • Separating allows for easy storage

  • Large magnets provide secure handling

  • Individual pieces can be used on board edges

Farm Kits have various configurations

  • Silos (1” and 2” high) can be swapped to provide full or partial cover

  • Large barns and pole building share the same connection points

  • Small barn, house, and shed are interchangeable.

Dead Trees and Geysers use a Rough Terrain template

Wolfnet AS350

8 Box Studio has worked closely with WolfNet Radio, creators of the AS350 format, to make sure the terrain is fully compatible for tournament play. Several kits AS350 starter kits are available providing all the requirements for Primary Terrain. You can add a Recon Kit or Tree kit to complete a full table!

Wolfnet will be utilizing Recon Terrain as they continue to build their tournament kits.
